Weekly AMP Update

April 15, 2005

Happy Tax Day!

The intention of this weekly email update is to keep you informed about what is going on here at AMP…schedules, volunteer opportunities, special events, and the like. If you have information you would like to include in a future update, please send it to me via email at dawn@ampmedia.org. Likewise, if you would prefer not to receive these updates, just send an email to my email address with “remove” in the subject line, and I will take you off. Finally, if you know someone who is not receiving these messages who would like to, please forward that information to me as well!

New! Client Services Schedule
AMP will be adjusting our client services schedule (check-outs, facilities use, etc.) at the beginning of June. There will also be some short periods where we will be closed around the ACM Conference and possibly one or two other special projects (programming will still be accepted and played). I will provide further details as they become available, but if you already know that you will have special or specific needs during the summer months, it would be a very good idea to make your request now so that we can take those into consideration as we solidify our plans.

New! Help Save the Salinas Libraries
St. Michael’s Choir, an internationally renowned 110 boy choir from Toronto Canada will be assisting in a fundraiser to help save the Salinas Libraries. The team who has put this together has gotten commitments from the local TV Stations to air a PSA, but first the group NEEDS a PSA (we would air it on AMP too, of course). The gentleman who contacted me regarding this need is well versed in PSA production, would write the script, provide some still photos, etc. He needs someone to shoot and edit. The event is April 28th & 29th, so time is of the essence. If the nationally publicized issue of the Salinas Library closure is near and dear to your heart, this would be a great way to use your skills to help keep them open. Contact Dawn at dawn@ampmedia.org right away if you are interested in helping.

New! Celebration of the Musical Mind
Parents’ Place in Pacific Grove is hosting a Celebration of the Musical Mind on Saturday May 21st in the multipurpose room of the Pacific Grove Adult Education, 1025 Lighthouse Ave, Pacific Grove. The program will feature a “family band” made up of local families and organized by Marilee Sunseri. After that, the Parents’ Place classes will join together to sing…these are children from infants to ages 3+. TOO CUTE! If you might be able to video this hour-long event, please contact Gail Root at 646-6623 or groot@pgusd.org. They would be MOST appreciative.

Amy Goodman
Amy’s presentation will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 7:30 PM in the Steinbeck Forum at the Monterey Conference Center.

Become a financial supporter of AMP and receive a ticket to sit in one of the first five, center rows of Amy Goodman’s July 9th lecture in Monterey. Of the 494 seats available, only 100 are in the first five center rows, so sign up before this limited opportunity is gone! When tickets go on sale to the General Public the event is sure to be a sell-out. Take advantage of this pre-sale opportunity to support AMP and secure your up-close seat to hear Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman speak.

To be an Individual Supporter is an investment of $100.00 and includes one reserved ticket to Amy Goodman, while a Household Supporter designation is an investment of $175.00 and includes two reserved tickets to Amy Goodman. The front row center seat will go to the first person to sign-up and seats will continue to be assigned on a first come, first served basis…the sooner you take advantage of this opportunity, the better your seat will be! General Seating Tickets will go on sale May 1st.

Contact Dawn Pease Bryant at AMP by calling 333-1267 or emailing to dawn@ampmedia.org. Seating priority will be based on receipt of pledge. Payment can be made with cash, check, Visa or MasterCard (a 3% processing fee will apply to credit card transactions).

Become a supporter today and secure your reserved seat to see Amy in July!
