Voices of Monterey Bay
Voices of Monterey Bay, or VOMB, is a not-for-profit bilingual news organization serving Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. It was launched in 2017 by veteran local journalists who believe the region needs a new journalistic vision, while providing a central location for people who have been ignored by the traditional media to express themselves or to report news from their neighborhoods.
Partnership with AMP
Voices of Monterey Bay is working with Access Media Productions on the creation of The VOMB Squad, our new podcast. The podcast is the start of what we expect will be a long-time and productive collaboration with AMP.
Since the day Voices launched, we knew we wanted to be more than a simple online print publication, that there are other unique ways to tell our stories. The challenge for Voices was finding the production time, the equipment and the expertise to produce more multi-media stories.
Enter AMP. We're starting our collaboration with The VOMB Squad podcasts, but we expect to eventually branch into other platforms. AMP's got a lot of cool toys, after all, and we look forward to using them!

In 2020, Voices of Monterey Bay (VOMB) launched their first podcast in conjunction with AMP- The VOMB Squad. In each episode, Joe Livernois and other staff members talk about the stories Voices of Monterey Bay are following, talk with interesting people on the Central Coast, and more.

Introducing Gray Area
I’m Julie Reynolds Martinez and for more than 15 years, I’ve reported on criminal justice in California’s Central Coast. Gray Area tells true stories of people who are dealing with this whole thing we call justice; people who are trying to get beyond labels of right and wrong or good and evil to get to something bigger – redemption. Gray Area deals with some pretty heavy stuff, but it also lightens up when you least expect it.
